Hi, I’m Luisa! (she/her/hers)
I am a queer trauma counsellor, art therapist, and artist offering services in Vancouver, BC. I was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia and spent a long time living and learning in the United States. I received my Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counselling from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#15812).
As an artist and art therapist, I utilize art making as a vehicle to distill my personal experiences as it provides me with the space to dissect, analyze, and re-construct my understanding of them. My art process develops my capacity to be introspective and self-reflective, and informs my therapist identity. I am interested in issues surrounding femme-ness, sexuality, and aspects of difference and belonging particularly race, gender, immigration, culture, ability, and mental health.
When I’m outside the counselling room, I enjoy making art, painting murals, hiking, riding my bike, drinking coffee, and eating ice cream. I enjoy re-watching movies and TV shows. I am a Pisces and ENFJ.
