Hi, I’m Luisa! (she/her/hers)
Engaging in counseling to process trauma and address challenges takes courage. Making this decision of engagement is the start of healing and growth as it takes self-awareness, vulnerability, and determination. As someone who wants to be able to support you, I want to share a bit about myself so that you can make an informed, intentional decision and we can begin the process of building trust.
I am a queer, Latina, immigrant, newcomer woman offering trauma counseling and art therapy services in Vancouver, BC on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish,) and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) land. I was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia and spent a long time living and learning in the United States.
Since I can remember I have been in a supportive role with the people in my life and engaged in art making to process my own experiences. I believe my ability to be compassionate and empathic are the qualities that allowed for the safety my loved ones needed to trust me with their stories. Since finishing my education, I have worked in a variety of community mental health settings with primarily immigrants, people in the LGBTQI2S+ communities, BIPOC, and survivors of sexual assault and gender-based violence.
When I’m outside the counseling room, I enjoy making collages, painting, hiking, riding my bike, drinking coffee, and eating ice cream. I like to re-watch movies and TV shows. I am a Pisces and ENFJ.
Together we can explore issues and experiences that are getting in the way of your individual and collective healing. To get an idea of what our work together can look like, please click here.
